Kimble Mandolins - 2003 Style H Mandola - Used

Description

This 2003 Style H Mandola hails from Cincinnati-based luthier Will Kimble and is a nice example of the craftsmanship that comes from a small builder. Featuring a Spruce top and a unique combo of a quilted maple back and flamed maple sides, combine to give this mandola a full voice that sounds rounded and balanced. Tone bar bracing keeps a tight balance between good volume and pleasant frequency response in the lower mandola register.

Here in Good condition for having seen over two decades of play, there's various dents and scuffs from playwear along to top and the back of the neck. There is what appears to be a strap button repair on the back near the heal, where a previous strap button was installed and since removed and filled. There is also a previous repair on the back of the headstock where the veneer meets the neck, where the two meet there are signs of clamping and glue squeeze out. There are also signs of finish separation along the binding.

Accommodations to the modern player, such as the radiused fingerboard and arm rest make for a vintage-voiced instrument that plays great. The mandola has had a recent refret. Comes with Modern Hard Gigbag.
