Gibson Guitars - 1981 CMT "The V" - Flying V - Vintage Cherry Sunburst - Used

Description

This 1981 Gibson CMT "The V" is a killer piece of early '80s Gibson history and a Norlin-era guitar that absolutely demands attention. Produced for just a few years, "The V" was designed to bring a touch of '80s metal-esque flair to the standard Flying V platform. This particular example features the classic '50s V-shape constructed with a bound Curly Maple top, giving it a brightness and snap that cuts through any mix thanks in no small part to the dual Dirty Finger humbuckers with their extremely high output. The Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish is a nod to the famed "bursts" of the late '50s.

The "SECOND" stamp on the back of the headstock designates a "Factory Second," usually due to a minor cosmetic blemish in the finish when it left the factory. Over 40 years later, that original blemish has blended seamlessly into the play wear of the instrument, with it being all-in-all in Very Good condition having the marks and wear over the decades all add to the vintage vibe and mojo, as well as the original hardware and electronics.

Ideally suited for hard rock '80s riffing, this guitar has sustain for days and is a toothsome example at that. Includes the original hardshell case.
