EarthQuaker Devices - Chelsea - Low End Fuzz Driver
Description
The Chelsea from EarthQuaker Devices is finally an answer to the mysterious and iconic bass fuzz of LCD Soundsystem. Based on a unique, one-of-a-kind 70s Big Muff, the Chelsea offers up a special, but classic sounding fuzz that sounds great on bass and guitar just as well. Easy to understand three knob layout includes a Level for volume, Tone for an EQ sweep emphasizing from muffled lows to high end grit, and a Sustain knob for attenuating distortion and the sustain of the fuzz. The sweep of the Sustain knob delivers a subtle overdrive to a roaring, mid focused fuzz reminiscent of a '78 era Big Muff. The Tone Bypass switch removes the tone stack from the circuit leading to more focused and raw sound that opens up lots of clarity in the attack of notes played.
Overall, this pedal sounds great on bass and guitar and is very reminiscent of one of the greatest '70s era Muff fuzz sounds while invoking that spitty, low bias sound that LCD Soundsystem's bass tone is so heralded for.
