1996 Monteleone Eclipse Special violin red
Description
Sale! Serial # 160 is a Monteleone Eclipse 17" Special created by John in 1996 featuring a striking violin red finish and highly-figured curly maple back, sides, and neck. This instrument was purchased in 1998 by Robert James Waller, author of the Bridges of Madison County and numerous other novels and was a particular favorite of his. Robert nicknamed this guitar "Sugar" because of the notable sweetness of its sound and the beauty of its appearance. Robert ordered a custom Calton hard case for this guitar so he could travel and perform with it for friends and admirers. It also features a suspended pickup which amplifies it's smooth and lush sounds, and it is exceptionally comfortable and easy to play. The scale length is 25.5"; neck width at the nut is 1.75"; body width is 17" at the lower bout; and body depth is 2-7/8" at the rim. This instrument is an outstanding example of John's first archtop model and is in near-mint original condition with no issues. Please contact Tom Van Hoose for further information.
