Vox AD30VT Valvetronix 2003 30W Combo — VFS2 Footswitch
Description
No sales tax for US customers outside California.
When Vox introduced the Valvetronix series in the early 2000s they were doing something genuinely different from the modeling amp arms race happening around them. Rather than going all-digital, they built a hybrid — a 12AX7 tube running through Vox's Valve Reactor circuit, which includes an actual low-wattage tube power amp stage, a virtual output transformer, and a dummy speaker circuit that simulates the impedance behavior of a real speaker cabinet. The result is an amp that feels and responds like a tube amp in ways that purely digital modeling amps of the era simply didn't. It was a clever piece of engineering and it held up — the AD30VT has stayed in rotation in studios and practice rooms for two decades, which is the real test.
This is a 2003 example in excellent condition, fully working across all eleven amp models and all eleven effects, with the VFS2 dual footswitch included. The amp models cover a wide and genuinely useful range — the AC15 and AC30 models are predictably good given that Vox knows those circuits from the inside, and the Boutique CL, Tweed 4x10, Black 2x12, and UK 70s models give you access to a convincing spread of clean and mildly driven tones. The UK 80s, UK Modern, US Hi-Gain, Boutique OD, and Nu-Metal models handle heavier territory. Eleven effects include auto wah, compressor, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, rotary, delay, and reverb, plus combination types — all 24-bit, all adjustable. Two programmable channels store your own amp and effect combinations, accessible via the VFS2 footswitch for hands-free switching between three distinct sounds live.
The power level control is one of the most practically useful features on this amp — it adjusts output continuously from 1 to 30 watts, which means you can push the Valve Reactor circuit into saturation at bedroom volume without losing the tube feel that makes this amp worth owning. The effects loop send and return on the rear panel, external speaker out, and headphone/line jack for silent recording round out a feature set that was ahead of its price point when new and remains genuinely practical today. The 1x10 Vox custom speaker is intact and sounding correct.
For a player who wants a versatile, reliable, genuinely tube-influenced practice and small-venue amp that covers a lot of ground without tap-dancing through menus, the AD30VT remains one of the best arguments for the format — and this one is ready to go.
