Taylor Gold Label 514e Super Auditorium Torrefied Spruce/Mahogany Natural w/L.R. Baggs VTC

Description

Inspired by an older, more traditional acoustic sound, the Gold Label Collection reveals a rounder, warmer, more robust flavor of acoustic tone—a sound unlike anything Taylor has previously offered. Master builder Andy Powers’ sonic recipe for the collection includes three key innovations: new body shapes, a fanned variant of his V-Class bracing platform and a revolutionary long-tenon Action Control Neck joint.

Super Auditorium
Featuring a slightly longer body and wider lower bout than our iconic Grand Auditorium body shape, the non-cutaway Super Auditorium delivers a deep, open voice with exceptional warmth, power and dynamic range—while offering incredible musical versatility. Its responsive feel and focused clarity suit fingerstyle, light strumming and flatpicking alike. (Note: The Gold Label 814e Koa and Gold Label 814e Koa SB will be available as the Gold Label K14e and Gold Label K14e SB, respectively—offered with the same specifications as the original models—starting in September.)

Solid mahogany and torrefied Sitka spruce serve up a rich, earthy midrange character with a clear, woody response, powerful projection and hints of seasoned, aged-in sweetness right out of the box. Each model features a clean appointment scheme that fits the Gold Label Collection’s distinctive design aesthetic, including cream-colored “Crest” inlays on the fretboard and peghead, cream body binding with black/white/black purfling, and a single-ring cream rosette with matching trim. Players can choose from three top finish options: natural, blacktop or a golden-brown sunburst.

Fanned V-Class® Bracing
Featuring a fan-like arrangement of braces in the soundboard’s lower bout, this V-Class variant delivers on the original promise of Andy Powers’ innovative sonic engine: a flexible voicing platform capable of unlocking a bold new palette of sounds. In this case, it gives these Gold Label models a warmer, more resonant, more powerful sound.

Action Control Neck
This patented, groundbreaking design features a long-tenon neck joint that extends deeper into the body, enhancing the wood coupling to boost the low-end resonance, and a slim, fast-playing profile that delivers signature Taylor playability. It also enables quick, precise string height adjustments with a turn of a bolt through the soundhole—no need to remove the neck or strings.

Heritage-Inspired Aesthetics
The collection’s decorative aesthetic draws inspiration from old banjos and mandolins, early Taylor designs, and Andy’s pre-Taylor design work on archtop guitars. The guitars feature his modified headstock shape with an angled back cut and a script-style Taylor logo inlay, a different pickguard shape, and a Gold Label guitar label inside.
