~1967 Silvertone 12 String 319 Sunburst
Description
Harmony Silvertone 12 String c 1967 | $925 | (v2521) Silvertone was a Sears & Roebuck brand since the early 20th century selling music-related items. In the 1940s, through its extensive catalog reach, the company began selling musical instruments, by the millions, to the post WWII generation. This is essentially a Harmony H912 branded Silvertone Model 319. While the H912 is fairly common in the market today, the Silvertone examples are less so.
The body is solid birch. The top is adorned with a brown-toned sunburse, white trim and features ladder bracing. The neck is poplar topped with an ebonized fingerboard.
The body measures 15 1/2" across at the lower bout. The scale length is 25 1/4". The neck is 2" across at the nut, and string spacing is 2 3/8" at the saddle. Action is set at 6/64".
Recent repairs: neck reset; new ebony bridge and bone saddle; new bone nut; new pickguard; some old strap button holes filled; tuners cleaned and lubed; frets leveled and dressed. There are two holes at the sound hole from a previous pickup, and various nicks and dings from age and use.
The birch-body 12s are fun to play and have a direct and brash, jangly sound. Works for folky and blues tunes!
Comes with a soft case.
