2024 PRS McCarty 594 Hollowbody Antique White

Description

The PRS McCarty 594 is named for it's unique string scale, 24.594", making the scale length of this model just under a 10th of an inch longer than the McCarty's typical 24.5". It's still a short scale, 22-fret design, but that tiny bit of added scale length generates a bit more clarity and brightness in the guitar's tone and is just one of the many little details that makes this model unique.

Offered here is an exquisite 'PRS McCarty 594 Hollowbody' built in 2024 and in virtually new condition. PRS has taken the unique string scale and bridge setup of the very popular McCarty 594 and applied these specs to another important model in their lineup, the fully hollow PRS Hollowbody.

Both the top and back of the HB are made of carved maple, while the sides and the neck are made of mahogany. There is no center block; only the wood necessary to attach the bridge components is added to the body's interior. The guitar is incredibly light (6.0 pounds) and incredibly resonant. It has a 22 fret neck with PRS' Pattern Vintage neck profile (wide/fat) and a lovely bound rosewood fingerboard with bird inlays. It has the 594's two piece bridge setup and its 24.594" string scale. The electronics consist of two 58/15 LT humbuckers with volume and tone controls for each pickup, push/pull coil splitting and a three-way toggle switch mounted on the upper bout. The tuners are a vintage Kluson style rather than the locking tuners found on most other PRS guitars. It is finished in a gloss antique white nitrocellulose lacquer with exposed maple binding.

I have long been a huge fan of PRS' hollow electrics. While not made for high volume work where their feedback limitations become evident, in any other situation their extremely light weight, clear woody voice and touch-sensitive response make these hollowbody guitars extremely appealing. The 594 specs that have been added simply make an already great design even better. Please check out the brief sound sample link included below. To my ears the voice of this guitar is part ES 335, part LP and part acoustic. With the coil splitting this model provides, your tone options are many!

This guitar is in new and virtually unplayed condition with no flaws of any significance. It comes in its original hardshell case, also in mint condition, along with all the original paperwork.
