The “Uncle Larry” , named after Tom Bukovac , is handwired by p2p in a classic 5E3 Tweed Deluxe style combo amp with p2pAmps changes to make an already great platform better. Assembled from a selection of high-quality parts, this amp features an authentic solid northern pine cabinet, Hammond transformers, ½ power switch, 3-Way Negative feedback switch for ultimate cleans, and a Celestion G12-65 speaker. Additionally, the Uncle Larry internal grounding scheme and construction techniques has solved the very typical noise issues that plagues vintage tweed circuits!
Sound-wise, the amp is everything you would expect from a classic 5E3-style amp but more--with a woody bottom end and snappy highs. The fat clean tone quickly turns into that unmistakable crunch as you nudge up the volume--all the way to ZZ-Top territory at the highest settings. This is a fantastic tweed Deluxe that rivals any boutique reproduction - Period.
