1969 Martin D-12-35 (SOLD) Natural

Description

Bay Area Vintage Guitars is proud to offer this fantastic 1969 Martin D-35 in a 12-string configuration. It has gentle wear from 56 years of enjoyment. It retains all original parts, frets, bone, pickguard, and bridge.

Introduced in 1965, the Martin D12-35 is the 12-string version of the classic Martin D35. It is visually and sonically notable with its captivating three-piece Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. The three-piece design was introduced partly due to market forces—larger-sized pieces of Rosewood, particularly Brazilian, were becoming scarcer and more expensive.

The D12-35 uses a Dreadnought shape but does not have the 'square' shoulders typical of the Martin D body; the upper bouts are rounded or 'sloped.' The top is Sitka Spruce, which pairs nicely with the Brazilian Rosewood sides and back. The neck is Mahogany, with a slotted peghead, and the bridge and bound 12-fret fingerboard are Ebony.

There are some wear marks, dings, and light scratches, a testament to its rich history. The original frets show little fret wear.

Note that there is some clear coat finish chipping on the treble shoulder and a light finish only crack (see pictures), but it is not growing in size and still retains its high-gloss finish.
