~1928 Larson Brothers Maurer Model 551 (12 fret rosewood,15")
Description
Late 20s Maurer model 551 w/HSC (12 fret 15")
This fine, century old Larson Bros. 15" guitar has had its bridge replaced with an exact replica of the original (by Kovacik Guitars), other than that the guitar is original. The original bridge is present/included. Solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides, solid spruce top, X braced top, mahogany neck with ebony fret board and bridge. It has a long ago splinted top seam (very well done) along with one hairline top crack and two back cracks (both old repairs, both well done as well). The guitar presents very well cosmetically, showing little wear from play or handling and no damage other than the aforementioned repairs. The finish is clean and original. The frets show little wear at all and the fret board shows none. The scale length is 25.5" and the nut width 1 7/8." Action is set at 7/64" at the low E at the 12th fret and 6/64" at the high E with plenty of saddle showing to lower the action should you desire. Big, open voice, superb clarity and response...if you know Larsons, you know what to expect. Sound file available on request. This guitar comes with a custom made Harptone Red Line hard shell case, a $900 value. Ships to US addresses only, no exceptions. NYS residents add 8% sales tax.
