Original Vintage Late 1952/Early 1953 Gibson Les Paul Standard, $38,500.00

Description

I bought this guitar from the original owner many years ago. He lived in Grandview, MO and told me he bought the guitar new from a local music store. The early Gibson Les Paul Standards did not have a serial number on the back of the headstock until mid-1953. So, this could be a late 1952 or an early 1953. And very early 1953 models with trapezes are still considered "first-year" specifications, similar to 1952 models. Note the original 5-latch, Lifton case is slightly different than the early 1952 Les Paul case. This original brown Lifton case is the case that came with the guitar when he purchased this Les Paul. I can tell this is guitar is either a late 1952 or an early 1953 as the neck profile is not as large as the very early 1952 LP Standards with the unbound fretboard. This neck profile is very comfortable. I still have the original flat-wound strings on the guitar from when they were changed in 1955 by “Ed”- (see bottom of string box). The guitar weighs 9 lbs. 6 oz. The pickup readings are, Bridge: 7.39 & the Neck pickup reads 7.15 ohms. The original switch-tip has a repaired crack (note close-up photo). The guitar is in 9.25 condition; however, the original case does have some scuffs on it. There are some light reflections on some of the photos-but they are just in the photos-one can see how clean this Les Paul is.
