1963 Gibson Firebird VII – Black
Description
This incredible 1963 Gibson Firebird VII in factory Black was once owned by 38 Special’s Jeff Carlisi! In addition to receiving one of Gibson’s rarest custom finishes, this rockin’ Firebird was their top-of-the-line example, with three mini humbuckers, a Lyre tailpiece, mother of pearl inlays, an Ebony fretboard with block inlays, and gold-plated hardware! As if those weren’t reasons enough to be in love with this guitar, its previous ownership makes it a slam dunk! Inside this guitar’s original case, you will find photos of Carlisi, along with a watercolor self-portrait, all of which feature this guitar. With some research, we were also able to track down even more digital photos, which we will be happy to share with the next owner. This case was also personalized with a 38 Special stencil. As is the case for working musicians, this guitar was a tool, and at one point Carlisi routed the bridge pickup for a full-sized humbucker. It has since been returned to its original pickup. This Firebird would be a top-tier addition to any collection, not only for its looks, but for its sound and playability!
