1947 Martin D-28 – Shaded Top

Description

Talk about rare! We can’t get enough of this 1947 Martin D-28 with a Shaded Top. Most Martin guitars featured Natural finishes, though a “Shaded Top” (also referred to as a “Dark Top”) was optional. Martin made far fewer guitars in this finish, hence their scarcity! This post-war example sports its share of playwear and marks from years of great playing. These dreadnought bodies are known for their immense power and booming sound, mainly due to the deep body that characterizes this style. This one is no exception! As with most flattops of this age, it has seen some repairs. This bridge has been replaced, the neck has been reset, it has been refretted, and received a new nut. There is one small crack along the top grain from the bottom of the pickguard to the bridge, although it has been professionally repaired and is completely stable due to its location.

Overall Condition: 8, some playwear, and aging to this nearly 80-year-old guitar!
