Martin D12-28 1971
Description
No. 2648. Includes original case with case key. This vintage Martin is in fine overall condition for being 54 years young.
We just detailed her & re-strung with D'Addario light gauge tuned to D#, half step down. Just a habit of ours. It plays really nice and has "that sound." The top has a lovely mild yellowing & the Rosewood has very nice grain patterns.
Condition:
- No smoke odor, no buckle rash- none
- very few scratches
- Pickguard is lifting & curling at front & back. We decided it wasn't enough to bother with and it's not cracking the Spruce.
- There was a ding into the top spruce, treble side upper bout. It's been filled, smoothed & polished. It's a Marilyn Monroe like "beauty mark." ( see the photo)
- some finish is scuffed off- neck back behind fret 10. (see the photo)
- Previous owner had the neck reset and it looks well done. The bridge saddle has lots of room to lower action if desired.
- Has an active L.R. Baggs pickup that we tested & it works fine.
- Neck has minimal relief and it plays very nice. Plenty room to lower the action at the saddle if desired
- no fret grooves
- No strap button- we'll install one on request.
- We just re-strung it and the keys function 100%. No issues
Simply a fine vintage Martin 12 string that will no doubt continue to appreciate in value, as you enjoy playing this beauty.
