1971 Martin 0-18: $1,350

Bought this on Friday (1/16) from a guy who got it in an estate sale. Turns out I am having hip surgery (Feb 12) and now won’t have the time or energy for twelve (12) weeks to do the work or have the work needed done. So this is chance for someone that wants to do the work to have an awesome, vintage, small bodied Martin guitar for cheap.

The 2025 Vintage Guitar Price guide has these in Ex condition from $3,500 to $4,500, probably a few $$’s more in the 2026 book.. My luthier says he could make this straight for $600 to $700.

I’m asking $1,350 o.b.o. so you would be all in at around $2k for a guitar worth way more than that. I am in SC and will shipped and packed well in its Fender gig bag of all things. Or I can buy a case for it locally for $75 to $100 bucks and you pay me for that.

1. The guitar looks to have an “Adi” top with a gorgeous and tight grain.
2. Guitar will need a neck set for sure.
3. The un-original bridge was sanded down on top and saddle too and action still high. I would put a new Martin bridge on it for sure
4. Had a headstock break somewhere along the line. It is done well, solid, stays in tune with no “raised” edges to the repair. The repair work is excellent
5. Finish work could been better as the repair itself is matched but, between the E tuners is sloppy. Could leave it or refin that area to match original finish of the neck.
6. A good luthier could make it all disappear
7. Has a scratch on the back and the usual bumps and scrapes for a 55 year old guitar
8. The fellow I got it from used paste wax on the top and back and never got it all buffed out.
9. Frets look to be in great shape
10. Tuners have been changed. They are open back and look correct
