1980 A.C. Zemaitis Wood Front Custom
Description
This is an original UK made “Wood Front Custom” model, handcrafted by Tony Zemaitis.
This model was produced between late 1970s to around 1980.
Its compact single cutaway body features a three-piece Honduran mahogany body back, and a one-piece neck. The body top features flame maple with rosewood and mahogany placed at its center.
In a very rare instance, the client initially requested the guitar is built as a fretless instrument, incorporating a standard Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece for practical fretless use.
Later, the owner requested Tony to add frets on finger boad. At the same time, the tailpiece was changed to an aluminum block, the bridge was upgraded to a custom deluxe specification aluminum piece, and the pickup rings were also refurbished, switching from plastic to aluminum.
It was common for Zemaitis guitars to be refurbished by Tony himself.
So that we can consider it as a sort of original because all of the modification were done by Tony.
The pickups appears to be DiMarzio PAFs.
Minor scratches are visible here and there, but considering its age, it remains in excellent condition.
