FEATURES

A Classic Taylor with Player-Focused Upgrades

Comfort, sound and looks come together for an exceptional playing experience in this refined take on Taylor's beloved Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric.

Grand Auditorium

Grand Auditorium Body: Taylor's most popular and versatile body shape, the mid-size Grand Auditorium arrived in 1994 bearing refined proportions that fell between a Dreadnought and Grand Concert. While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpicker’s guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, the GA was designed to deliver on both fronts. The shape produced an original acoustic voice that was big enough to handle medium-strength picking and strumming, yet with impressive balance across the tonal spectrum, especially in the midrange, producing clear, well-defined notes that suited both strumming and fingerstyle playing. The GA’s overall presence tracks well with other instruments both in a studio mix and on stage, and singer-songwriters have embraced its utility both for composing and traveling with one guitar. Many people want a single guitar that can cover a variety of styles, which is why the GA continues to be Taylor's bestselling shape. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the multi-dimensional GA won’t let you down.

Honduran Rosewood Body Wood

Honduran Rosewood Body Wood: Extremely dense compared to other rosewood species, Honduran rosewood sings with a uniquely smooth voice that makes it worthy of Taylor's finest guitars.

Origin: Honduras

Sound: Honduran rosewood has rich heritage in the world of acoustic instruments, highly valued as the wood of choice for marimba bars and now an ingredient in some of Taylor’s finest guitars.

Considerably denser than Indian rosewood, Honduran rosewood has an extremely low damping factor, which contributes to a supremely textured, harmonically complex tone. You’ll hear the warm low end and sparkling, chime-like trebles that you’d expect from other rosewood species, along with a smoothness that stands out from other hardwoods. Overtones are lush and bloom out as notes sustain while maintaining enough clarity to ensure you can cut to the front of a mix when needed.

Goes Well With: A wide range of playing styles and genres, from Americana to blues to fingerpicking applications and beyond. Pairs especially well with a sinker redwood top, which adds midrange heft and even greater warmth.

Action Control Neck

Long-Tenon Neck Joint: Taylor's proprietary long-tenon design features a tenon that protrudes beyond the neck heel and extends deeper into a precision-routed pocket in the body’s neck block. This changes the wood coupling in a way that’s comparable to traditional guitar necks. The long tenon increases the stiffness of the heel, which translates into more low-end resonance and a deeper, warmer, more open sound.

Instant Action Control: The Action Control Neck refines the micro-adjustability of Taylor's standard neck design with a new shimless design that allows a player to make easy, quick micro-adjustments to dial in the string height for any situation. You don’t have to remove the neck or even the strings.

Sinker Redwood

Sinker Redwood Top Wood: A customer favorite for its origins, sinker redwood soundboards are sliced from huge old-growth redwood logs reclaimed from the depths of Northern California rivers, where they’ve lain in many cases for more than a century. The tops typically display a rich spectrum of variegation, the result of colors uniquely imparted from silt and the mineral-rich water. The age and size of these trees translates into a tight grain with nice cross-grain stiffness, so it will tend to have a fairly bold response, with a brilliance complemented by warm overtones similar to cedar. In fact, it’s often characterized around the Taylor complex as "cedar on steroids."

Origin: Northern California

Goes Well With: Players who like the warm overtones of cedar with a little extra brightness and headroom. It pairs well with rosewood and mahogany, and looks striking when visually matched with Macassar ebony through the Build to Order program.

Claria™ Pickup System

Claria™ Pickup System: Taylor's Claria™ System combines a reimagined under-saddle piezo pickup with a proprietary preamp. Taylor's designers talk about Claria’s™ development and why it will appeal to players.

Claria™ Controls: Volume, Mid Contour & Tone:Central to the Claria™ System design are the simple tone-shaping controls featuring three knobs located discretely in the soundhole: Volume, Mid Contour and Tone. Watch and discover how you can unlock a sweeping range of acoustic sounds with simple tweaks, allowing you to plug in and play with the amplified tone you want in any scenario.

Beveled Cutaway

Beveled Cutaway: Released as part of the Builder’s Edition line in 2018, Taylor's beveled cutaway design provides a more player-friendly feel for guitarists who utilize every inch of the fretboard. It features a compound design with a smoothened edge along the corner of the body between the end of the cutaway and the neck heel, providing a more comfortable feel for the fretting hand. The new cutaway design also incorporates a finger bevel on the guitar’s top, a resting surface for the pinky finger near the highest frets of the guitar. Together, these elements allow the player to reach the entire fretboard without changing hand positions.
