1965 Supro 1622RT Tremo-Verb Combo Amp (6422RT Chassis) Blue

Description

Bay Area Vintage Guitars is pleased to present this outstanding 1965 Supro 1622RT Tremo-Verb — a classic Valco-built Chicago combo whose chassis is stamped 6422RT, the factory engineering designation for this celebrated model. Compact, expressive, and unmistakably vintage in feel, this amp delivers the raw midrange punch, early breakup, and dimensional tube-driven effects that define the golden-era Supro sound.

Built during Supro’s most desirable mid-60s period, the 1622RT is widely respected for its recording-friendly output and dynamic touch response. The combination of true tube tremolo and spring reverb creates motion and atmosphere without masking the amp’s core tone — warm cleans at lower volumes and thick, harmonically rich grind as you push it.

Model Clarification

Supro marketed this amplifier as the 1622RT Tremo-Verb, while Valco identified the chassis internally as 6422RT. Both designations refer to the same amp platform and are commonly used interchangeably among collectors and technicians.

Tone & Personality

This is the sound that made vintage Supros legendary — chewy mids, natural compression, and an organic breakup that feels alive under your fingers. It excels as a studio amp and shines with single-coil, P-90, or humbucker pickups alike.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition with nice cosmetics and full functionality. As noted in the pictures, there are a few minor blemishes and tears in the tolex and patina across the chrome and control area. Overall, the condition is very good.
