1946 Martin D-28 Herringbone natural

Description

This Dreadnought, made in the last year of the herringbone binding, is one of the best sounding Martins I’ve owned. As you can see, it has been played! There's a spot next to the bridge where the wear went below the surface that has been filled with epoxy. The fingerboard and bridge may have been replaced and probably a neck reset, before I acquired it many years ago. It has a glued “pickguard crack” and some of the finish has worn off, but it remains a very stable tone machine. This guitar has earned the title of “distressed” — the honest playing wear that many companies now try to duplicate and charge extra for (which I never could fathom). I love the way this guitar looks, plays and sounds. This instrument is part of my personal collection. Comes with certificate of provenance and recent Martin Deluxe hard case or red Calton case for an additional $500.
