1969 Guild Starfire 5D-BL Blond

This is a fantastic one-of-a-kind Guild Starfire VD-BL meaning it is a Starfire V with a full depth fully hollow body in a stunning blond finish. It also has high end appointments and the wood is extremely flamed. We believe this is a prototype for a model that never went into production. In 1969 this guitar would have had the smaller Guild mini-humbuckers that Guild used throughout the 1960's, but this guitar has the full sized humbuckers that Guild used starting in around 1971. It appears that for some reason a former owner replaced the original 60's Guild mini-humbuckers with the early 70's full sized units that are presently in the guitar. The original pickup routings were slightly enlarged to accommodate the full sized humbuckers. The guitar shows very light play wear and is in excellent condition for its age. It has been pro-setup and is a wonderful playing instrument. It comes with the original case.
