Description

Interesting and unusual Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, made in USA, circa 1964; Body: candy apple red finish with 'RR' stamped beneath scratchplate, lacquer checking throughout, various blemishes and dings; Neck: earlier 60s Fender figured birds eye maple Slab Board neck, possibly '61, no date stamp, unusual 'RR=' stamp to neck butt, light surface lacquer wear to edges and minor lacquer wear to middle length, later transitional decal; Fretboard: Brazilian rosewood slab board, groove wear to first position; Frets: good, refret; Electrics: working, volume potentiometer replaced, tone potentiometers dating to 3rd week of 1964, replacement switch (original switch retained including a selection of wiring); Case: late 60s hard case; Weight: 3.52kg; Overall condition: good for age

*Bearing RR stamps to both the body and neck; these markings, sometimes found on vintage Fender instruments, are thought to indicate factory ‘Restore & Refinish’ work. The neck appears to be an earlier slab board, possibly circa 1961.

*Please note – The Candy Apple Red Collection

Due to inherent variations in the custom colour finishing process, and differences in workmanship standards across individual instruments (whether original factory finishes or later refinished examples), all lots in the Candy Apple Red Collection are offered strictly “as seen.”
