Description

With only 36 examples ever made, this fully original 1974 Fender LTD in Sunburst is one of the rarest pieces to come out of Fender in the 70s! Each guitar was hand-crafted by Fender’s Research & Development Head, Roger Rossmeisl, who was assisted by Phil Kubicki. While the design of the LTD was similar to the Montego I and II, it was intended to be their highest-end archtop model, rivaling the work of jazz guitar greats like John D’Angelico. We have an extensive write-up about the LTD project and this specific instrument on our blog here, where you can see tons of close-up, detailed photos of this masterpiece. As detailed in the blog post, Rossmeisl and Kubicki even signed the inside of this carved top, something they only did on a handful of the 36 they made. This particular example is in incredible shape, with a couple of small marks here and there and a “shadow” of the tailpiece where it must’ve hung in or near a window for some time. When this guitar was new, there was a signed label placed inside the guitar, which has since fallen off but is included in the case. If you’re looking for that uber-rare, first-class, preserved vintage Fender built by their top craftsmen, this is it!
