1981 Gibson Flying V CMT "The V" Curly Flamed Maple Sunburst Top w/ Original Hardshell Case

Description

Original 1981 Gibson Flying V CMT "The V" Curly Flamed Maple Sunburst Top.

The 1980 Gibson "The V" CMT (Curly Maple Top) is a highly desirable, Norlin-era electric guitar produced in the early 1980s. Often called the Flying V CMT, it is known for its curly maple top, maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and high-output "Dirty Fingers" humbucker pickups, aimed at the 1980s metal scene.

This is an early and rare bound maple top with a figured flame top.

This example has a real great vibe to it and has honest signs of wear. It is all original with the exception of the bridge pickup which is a very early Seymour Duncan invader humbucker. Pickups sound incredible with lots of gain and warmth.

The three piece maple neck and volute harks of the '70s. The neck is straight and plays with a real nice low action and no buzz or issues.

There appears to be a small repair at the output jack, common on these and on SG's of the era.

Comes with original case, missing handle but there's a new handle in the case, and tons of cool vintage stickers!
