Description

There's a reason 63 and 64 ES-335's are so popular with players (and no, it's not because Eric Clapton played a 64). The reason is the neck. A large percentage of player like a neck that is relatively slim at the lower frets and chunky at the upper frets. 58's and 59's start big and get bigger. 60, 61, 62 start slim and stay that way. 63, 64 and some 65's start fairly slim but get as big as a 59 at the 12th fret and that is something folks really seem to like. Now, it's a generalization because all 63's and 64's aren't exactly the same but nearly all 64's have this profile and about half of 63's. This one is slim at the first (.80") and chunky at the 12th (.96"). Very comfortable. The pickups are sealed early patents (same as late PAFs). As is typical of many 62, 63 and 64's it has the repurposed wrap tail that Gibson used on 335's once they stopped using them on other guitars. Waste not...etc, etc. Never had other tuners, never had a Bigsby, no repairs, no breaks no cracks. A few dings on the top and some worming (not through the finish) on the back. All plastic is original. I've changed the saddles to metal. Oddly, it is in a brown case but I'm looking for a correct black case. Frets are original. There is some light checking but it's very faint and fine. Condition is 8.5 or so. It's a really excellent player and, as is typical of most 335's, it really sings at the upper frets. Clapton would like this one. More photos coming.
