This MTD 534-24 30th Anniversary bass (Serial #4033 020526) is a stunning example of Michael Tobias Design’s modern boutique craftsmanship, combining exceptional playability, advanced electronics, and a striking visual presentation.

Built with a lightweight poplar body and topped with beautifully figured myrtle burl, this instrument delivers both visual depth and a balanced tonal response. The wenge neck paired with a matching wenge fingerboard provides outstanding stability, fast attack, and the articulate low end that MTD instruments are known for. Luminlay side dots offer excellent visibility on dark stages, glowing brightly when charged with the included LED light.

At 34 inches scale with 24 frets, the bass feels familiar yet highly refined in the hands. The neck and body feature a durable epoxy base coat with a catalyzed urethane topcoat, resulting in a smooth, fast feel while offering long-term protection and easy maintenance.

The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is installed to improve intonation accuracy across the fretboard, particularly when playing complex chords or performing alongside keyboards and horns. A setup and intonation sheet is included.

Electronics are powerful and extremely versatile, built around Bartolini pickups and MTD’s proprietary preamp. The 18-volt system provides massive headroom, clarity, and dynamic range. Controls include master volume, pickup blend, passive tone, mid control, and a stacked treble and bass boost/cut with center detents. A three-position switch selects the midrange frequency center, allowing precise tonal shaping from warm low mids to punchy upper mids. A trim pot inside the control cavity allows gain adjustment.

Additional premium features include a dual-action truss rod adjustable in both directions and factory MTD stainless steel strings. From traditional fingerstyle warmth to modern articulate punch, this instrument offers an enormous tonal palette suitable for virtually any professional setting.
