1963 Fender Stratocaster Blonde
Description
Now available, a 1963 Fender Stratocaster in its original Blonde finish over an Ash body.
This is a great example of a fully original 1963 Fender Stratocaster in it's factory Blonde finish over an Ash body, only seen on Blonde guitars in this period. The guitar presents in well played but good condition overall with plenty of buckle rash, dings, and finish wear on both the body and neck to note. Despite the play wear there are NO signs of any touch-up or overspray.
The guitar made its way to Australia from the US recently, having come from a long term owner on the East Coast. It features all the typical pre-CBS specifications including the spaghetti logo, clay dot fingerboard inlays, nitrate celluloid pickguard, and single line Kluson deluxe tuners.
All of its original hardware and plastics remain, and all in good condition with exception of the typical pickguard crack at the neck pickup. The electronics remain original, including all three black bobbin pickups (original windings), 3-way switch, and the 3x Stackpole pots dating to the 38th week of 1963. There is solder touchup on the back of the volume pot, otherwise the wiring harness is untouched.
Despite wear on the original frets the guitar plays well thanks to a recent setup with 10-46 strings and a low-medium action. Plugged in this is a standout example tonally, being among the best early 60s strats we have ever had in the shop. There is balance across all three pickups, and it features the classic medium chunky '63 neck profile this year is known for.
Includes its original white tolex case, tremolo arm, and back-plate/screws.
