1919 Vega Model 205 cylinderback natural
Description
1919 Vega Model 205 Cylinder-Back Mandolin
The Vega company produced the “cylinder-back” or “lute mandolins” as they called them from 1913-1925. This unique design features a cylindrical bulge running longitudinally along the back plate, increasing the internal volume of the instrument. The model 205 was rather fancy with pearl inlaid pickguqrd and beautifully flamed maple back, sides and neck. All hardware is original including bridge and beautifully engraved tailpiece and tuner plates. This instrument has been retro-fitted with an extra pick guard and some extra pearl designs glued to the peghead. The neck is straight and there is fret wear but no buzz. A small amount of binding has worn away from the treble side of the fingerboard near the nut. This instrument is part of my personal collection. Comes with a signed certificate of provenance and original hard case in rough but serviceable condition.
