Gibson Guitars - 1967 SG Special - Cherry - Used
Description
This vintage 1967 SG Special is a Gibson classic delivering an iconic sound with professional upgrades. Here in the signature Cherry finish, the '67 features the late '60s batwing pickguard on a full mahogany body for that signature rock look. The original electronics feature a pair of P-90s pickups for a punchy, clear single-coil sound that made the SG famous.
The playability upgrades start with a professional refret and PLEK here in our shop and extend to a custom bridge setup. Thanks to a very clever conversion kit designed by our friend Joe Glazer and his crew at Music City Bridge in Nashville we're able to convert the posts to adjustable ones, which allows for the installation of a tune-o-matic style TonePros bridge. This upgrade makes for a rock solid setup, with accurate intonation, and a very usable tremolo - something the original bridge setup never really achieved. The upgrades are non-destructive, meaning the original posts and bridge can be re-installed to return the guitar to a stock setup.
Here in Very Good condition for a nearly 60-year-old guitar, there is play wear and chip out to the finish, most notably on the bass side contours and treble side horn. There is also a gouge to the back (see photos). All original electronics. A late '60s classic with subtle modern upgrades that delivers the vintage vibe with none of the playability hassle. Comes with a replacement hardshell case.
