1994 Martin D-45 Gene Autry #46 Natural
Description
Natural, Brazilian Rosewood, mint unsold condition from the original dealer who never sold it. This one is #46 of only 66 made. Maybe you’ve heard of Project 91? Martin is replicating the 91 original pre-war D-45’s. They are around $150K each.
This one is a copy of Gene Autry’s original 1933 12 fret, the very first D-45 made. Gene Autry was a superstar. The singing cowboy was a movie star, rodeo performer and composer. He even owned The California Angels baseball team later in life. He starred in over 90 movies and is in the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He wrote and sang “Tumbling Tumbleweeds”, “Back in the Saddle Again”, “Home on the Range” and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” to name a few. So in 1932 when he asked Martin to build the biggest fanciest guitar they could. They said yes sir!
It was the first one of Martins most famous model. This guitar features bookmatched Brazilian Rosewood back and sides on a high grade Sitka top. Has a 25.4” scale length, 1.875” nut width, forward shifted scalloped X braces, thin vintage correct nitro lacquer finish, ivoroid binding, the string spacing is 2.313” and abalone pearl trim…everywhere.
Again this has never been sold. You would be the first owner. It’s been stored in a humidity controlled environment. It’s stunning. Comes with the original hard case and paperwork. Consigned.
