1953 Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe Regent Sunburst

Description

Here's a 1953 Epiphone Zephyr Deluxe Regent in Sunburst finish. Remarkably clean and stunning example! All parts on the guitar are original. Only thing missing is the pickguard. But by the gorgeous flame top (and back and sides), you can see why the guard was taken off!! The original binding had shrunk over the years, so we had to add some binding to make it complete. Beyond that, no repairs. As you can see, insane flame on the top, sides, and back. The original sunburst finish is unfaded as well. There's not even tarnish on the gold hard ware from the Frequensator tailpiece, tuners, and pickup covers. The original bakelite knobs are perfect as well. This is the last year before Epiphone would rename and change the model. This is also the year that the neck carve was on the C profile side, as opposed to the V neck it had in previous years. Playability is exceptional! It's setup perfect right now, with easy playing low action. The original single coil "New York" pickups sound insanely good as well. Both are strong, clear, and super articulate. Sounds great acoustic too! This is an absolute gem of a guitar. Extra bonus: the original brown Lifton case is included! Below is a little more history on the guitar...

The Zephyr De Luxe Regent was Epiphone’s second-from-the-top electric guitar produced from the late 1940s through the mid ’50s. The instrument went through several name changes, from Zephyr De Luxe Cutaway, in 1948, to Zephyr De Luxe Regent, in 1950, to the DeLuxe Electric, by 1954. In Epiphone nomenclature, the word “Zephyr” indicated “electric” and the word “Regent” indicated “cutaway.” For the sake of clarity the term Zephyr De Luxe Regent will be used in this article to refer to all incarnations of the instrument.
