We're excited to offer the 2014 Gibson Custom Shop Joe Bonamassa 'Skinnerburst' 1959 Les Paul Reissue, hand-selected and aged by Tom Murphy, in a limited run of only 100 guitars. This guitar is a perfect recreation of Joe's prized 'Principal Skinner' 1959 Les Paul, which is considered one of the hardest working guitars in the world today. Gibson Custom had unrestricted access to the original guitar and, with Joe's generous cooperation, they scanned, studied, and measured every spec and curve to create an instrument that looks, feels, and sounds exactly like the real thing.
The Joe Bonamassa 'Skinnerburst' 1959 Les Paul features a precise top carve and neck profile, and comes as close as possible to owning a priceless artist's guitar. The historically accurate binding colors, aged cellulose inlays, hot-hide glue neck construction, and period-correct hardware all complement a breathtaking rendition of Joe's constant stage and studio companion. The guitar also features upgrade hand-made K&T 'PAF' style humbuckers, vintage Belden wire from the 50s-60s, and vintage Bumble Bee capacitors for an authentic vintage sound.
