2024 Kovacik D-18 w/HSC (Original Case Co)
Description
Kovacik Guitars #82 D-18
This guitar was started as a spec guitar in the shop in 2020 and then was laid aside due to the demands of the repair shop and custom build schedule. It returned to the bench for completion in the spring of 2024. The guitar features a gorgeous wide grain Adirondack spruce top with pre-war forward shifted scalloped bracing, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck along with ebony fret board and bridge. The top is beautifully quartered, and shows some light bear claw figure. The neck has an adjustable truss rod and a modern "C" profile as opposed to a deeper vintage profile, combined with the vintage 1 3/4" nut and 2 5/16" pin spacing. The fret board has slotted diamond and square position markers as opposed to the more traditional dots more commonly associated with style 18. The tuners are Waverlys. The action is set for flat picking at 7/64 at the low E and 6/64 at the high E. The intonation is good all around the fret board and the guitar plays buzz free. Comfortable for fingerstyle but could be lowered if desired. Since the guitar was first strung back in the spring, a few minor lacquer checks have appeared in the sides near the heel, visible in the pics. These checks are in the lacquer only, not in the wood. The guitar has been discounted slightly to reflect this very minor cosmetic issue. Comes with a Original Case Company hard shell case. $4250 plus shipping.
