1994 BERNARD ALLEN 2-point Natural SR-11-91
Description
Hand Crafted in 1994 by the late Bernard Allen of Naylor, MO. who was a well respected builder. This one is beautifully hand carved with a birds eye maple back and sides, a scroll headstock and a Spruce top. Comes in a Calton Style Hard case. A few little nicks and scratches, but nothing much for 30 years old! Sold as-is.
From the web: Mr. Allen took his joinery skills and applied them to luthiery, crafting fiddles and mandolins. In 2006, he generously contributed his wisdom to our 2007 traveling exhibition “Work is Art and Art is Work,” as one of six featured luthiers. The portrait of him below posed with his fiddle is by photojournalist Rita A. Reed, who traveled around Missouri with Folk Arts Specialist Deb Bailey to document the six luthiers.
