The Fender Deluxe Reverb is the most recorded guitar amplifier in history — the one that found its way into more recording studios, club stages, and rehearsal rooms than any other Fender amp, and the one that set the standard for what reverb and vibrato should sound like in a guitar amplifier.

The 22-watt 6V6 circuit has been in continuous production in various forms since 1964, and the silverface models of the early-to-mid 1970s occupy a specific and undervalued position in that history. Collectors chase the black panel models; players who actually need to gig have been quietly buying up silverface Deluxe Reverbs for decades because the tone is nearly identical, the amps are hand-wired and can be readily serviced, the reliability is excellent, and the price is more reasonable. That calculation has been shifting steadily in recent years as the silverface market catches up to what the amp actually is.

This 1976 example is in near mint condition — original black tolex, original grille cloth, original silver faceplate, original knobs, original handle, original pots and codes, with a grounded power cord. It is verified 1976 by serial number and component codes. This is a pre-pull-pot example, which matters: the volume boost pull switch that changed the circuit was added in 1977, making this one of the last pure pre-modification silverface Deluxe Reverbs. The reverb and vibrato are both fully functional. The RCA 5U4GB rectifier and Fender-branded 6V6 power tubes are original; preamp duties are handled by a mix of JJ and EHX 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes. Filter caps are original. The original two-button footswitch is included. The original cover is included.

The speaker is a non-original 1960s Fender-branded Oxford 12" that has been reconed. The amp came in with a non-original speaker, and I have found this replacement to be a huge upgrade in these amps. The speaker is correct for a Twin Reverb, so it has better bass handling and is more efficient. It tightens the amp up just the right amount. It is sort of like the move to a JBL, but lighter and it will break up earlier.

This is not the speaker the amp left the factory with, but it is a period-correct Oxford from the same era that these amps were originally shipped with — the Deluxe Reverb used Oxford 12K5 speakers throughout much of its production run — and a well-executed recone on an original Oxford basket is a legitimate and respected approach to speaker restoration among amp technicians and collectors alike. The extension speaker output on the rear panel is present and functional.

Shipping policy:

When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping. These cases require the buyer to re-install them on delivery - it is very easy with this amp, and we label them so you know exactly where to put them. We remove heavy speakers from amps as they can crack baffles, especially amps with particle board baffles. These cases require customers to reassemble amps. It also costs us more. The shipping cost is higher as a result. We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure. Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently. Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping. We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions. If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to . Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
