1935 Gibson Super 400 Sunburst
Description
Here is a stunning example of a first full year production of a 1935 Gibson Super 400 . The top is hand carved with book matched solid spruce , the back and sides are solid bookmatched tiger flame maple , the fingerboard is ebony with a flamed maple neck and walnut center stripe. The attention to detail on the hardware is very impressive , from the engraved Grover Sta-tite tuners and engraved tailpiece to the bound marbleized tortoise pickguard , this is a thing of beauty . The guitar is completely original in every respect , it has had no repairs and remains in amazing condition . The body finish has checking and a few dings and scrapes, the neck is also in unbelievable shape and plays perfectly with the original frets and what appears to be the original nut , this guitar was lovingly maintained over the years. With only 92 produced in 1935 at $400.00 , this was indeed a luxury item during the depression years . The voice on this guitar is exceptionally deep and resonant ,with wonderful projection and clarity from tonewoods aged for the better part of a century . This is a rare opportunity for serious players and collectors alike . W/OHSC
