1968 Fender Precision Bass Neck Rare Maple Cap Natural

Description

1968-early 1969 Fender Maple Cap Fretless Precision Bass Neck Super Rare! This is an impossibly rare Maple Cap Fretless Precision Bass neck. Fender did their maple cap necks in up until late 68-early 69 at which point they did switched to a one piece maple neck with a walnut “stringer” routed into the back of the neck. Fender didn’t start producing their fretless P-Bass until 1970, although there are some very late 69s from what I understand. This neck was clearly on some sort of Special Order bass, as the maple cap neck (1968-early 69)predates the fretless production basses, and judging by the color of the original paint that’s stuck to the heel of the neck (looks like Firemist Gold?) one can concluded this was a special order piece! Adding to the desirability of this rare neck is the fact it’s flamed maple, and comes equipped with its original non “R” Fender tuners with nice patina. Just a fantastic piece, and rarer than hens teeth!
