The A-5 model name refers to the famous unique Gibson Loar era A-5 that has all the characteristics of the famous F-5 model except for the scroll, which has no effect on the tone of the instrument. Thus, the A-5 is the same tonal quality level as the F-5.

This one comes from the highly respected luthier of more than three decades from Hailey, Idaho, building all members of the mandolin family as well as archtop and flattop guiars on a custom basis. This one was made for a Hawaiian player out of highest grade hand-split spruce for the top and koa back and sides from an ancient and amazing tree, the wood from which has been called "mother of curl". It's in as-new condition and has a wonderful lively, loud, bright and sweet tone.
