2014 Chad Underwood Stratocaster Prototype "Proto Pine" #01 Sunburst

This 2014 Chad Underwood Stratocaster “Proto Pine” #01 showcases Underwood’s early vision for lightweight, ultra-resonant, vintage-inspired builds. I can only assume that the pine body is the reason for the "prototype" designation. At first I thought it might be due to the headstock shape or logo, but I have found some earlier guitars with both. Most Underwood guitars have Fender shaped headstocks and logos.
This guitar is in excellent condition and plays effortlessly, feeling very resonant in the hands.. It set up perfectly with little effort - a sign of a really well-made guitar. There are no issues with the guitar whatsoever. The truss rod has room for future neck relief adjustment. The frets show some play wear but are nowhere near needing work.
The pickups were changed out in 2020 with a set of Fender Original 57/62 pickups, as evidenced by a piece of tape a tech or previous owner added under the pickguard. The pickups are described as follows: "The Fender Original '57/'62 Stratocaster pickup set are popular, vintage-voiced single-coils reverse-engineered from vintage pickups to deliver classic, glassy tones. They feature Alnico 5 magnets, Formvar-coated magnet wire, and staggered, beveled-edge pole pieces for authentic,, warm, and chimey sound.
The pine body keeps the weight down and the resonance up, producing a fast, airy attack with a woody midrange and clear, singing highs. Clean tones are glassy and articulate, while pushed sounds stay punchy and expressive without getting congested.
A hybrid case is included.
