Description

This 1986 Gibson SG Special is in good vintage condition. This guitar shows play wear and age throughout including some dings and scratches on the body and some wear on the back of the neck and around the peghead. This SG has definitely been around the block… a few times! It has suffered the all too common peghead crack which was expertly repaired and is super solid but visible. The pickups have been replaced with a set of Gibson ‘57 Classics (one with a gold cover) and the tuning machines have been swapped out with a set of Grover Rotomatics. That being said, this guitar plays and sounds fantastic and has a killer vibe! This SG has a great feeling Slim Tapered (80’s) neck profile with a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck is not overly slim, is nice and rounded and tapers larger toward the 12th fret. The rosewood fingerboard is super clean and the original fret wire on this guitar is in great shape - it is tall and is free of any dents or divots. This guitar has received a set up here in our shop and it plays fantastic up and down the fingerboard with low smooth action and excellent intonation. Both ‘57 Classic humbucking pickups sound great and this guitar delivers some righteous overdriven tones with with great sustain and plenty of mid-range sizzle! This is a particularly good sounding SG! This instrument excels for anything from blues to doom. This guitar weighs 8lb 3oz, is housed in a very nice gig bag and will ship out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
