1986 Fender Contemporary Stratocaster MIJ Ocean Blue Metallic

Description

This 1986 Made in Japan E serial numbered Contemporary Stratocaster is in very good condition. This guitar shows signs of play wear and age throughout including some pick scratches, dings and general wear. This instrument has seen a few changes over the past 39 years - the pickguard is a white pearloid replacement, the pickups have been swapped out for a set of older EMG single coils, the nut has been replaced with a Fender American Deluxe style steel unit, the original “behind the nut” locking mechanism has been removed (the holes still remain) and a large steel block string tree has been installed. This Strat has an absolutely killer feeling, well broken in “C” shaped neck profile with pronounced shoulders that is super comfortable in the hand and just feels like an old glove. The original fret wire is in good shape, is tall and is relatively free of any dents or divots. This guitar has received a pro set up here in the shop so it plays beautifully up and down the dark rosewood fingerboard with low action and great intonation. This guitar still retains its original Fender System 1 tremolo bridge but the arm is missing in action. The pickups in this Strat sound killer and deliver some extremely clear and articulate tones that are perfect for 90s country and Gilmour-ish type of tones with a nice bit of compression and punch. If you are looking for a killer old Strat, this thing has a true workhorse vibe paired with top notch build quality and killer playability. This Stratocaster weighs 8lb 2oz and is housed in a gig bag. We will ship this guitar out promptly and securely from our little shop here in Tennessee to your front door!
