2020 G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy - Whiskey
Description
No sales tax for US customers outside California.
The G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy occupies a genuinely interesting space in the Telecaster-derived universe, and this one is a looker! Where the standard ASAT Classic sticks to a pair of G&L MFD single coils, the Bluesboy swaps the neck pickup for a humbucker — giving you a guitar that covers clean country snap and fat, warm leads without compromise.
This 2020 USA-made example has a factory-installed Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucker at the neck, the same design Seth Lover himself developed after leaving Gibson. That pickup reads at 7.08k — warm and musical, with real PAF character — paired with G&L's own MFD ASAT Classic single coil at the bridge (reading a healthy 6.14k), and the combination is genuinely versatile. The body is swamp ash, which is exactly what you want for this platform: light, resonant, with the kind of natural midrange clarity that lets both pickups breathe. At 7 lbs 11 oz, it sits right where a working player wants it — present enough to feel substantial, light enough for a long gig.
The neck is quartersawn maple with a rosewood fretboard — rosewood on a Tele-style platform adds a touch of warmth and smoothness that complements the Bluesboy's voice nicely. The G&L Classic Plus C profile measures .83" at the first fret and .96" at the twelfth, which means that it is really comfortable without going too thin or too vintage-chunky. The 9.5" fretboard radius is modern enough to play fast and bend comfortably. The nut is Graph-Tech at 1-11/16" width, action is dialed in at 2/32" on both the first and sixth strings at the twelfth fret — this one is set up and playing well. Hardware is all correct: G&L locking tuners, the G&L fixed bridge with brass saddles at 2.1295" string spacing, tortoiseshell pickguard, and chrome knobs and hardware throughout. The finish on this whiskey-colored ash body is original. This guitar has been well cared for and shows it.
Comes with its original G&G case in excellent condition (still has that new case smell), plus the certificate of authenticity and spec sheet.
As you may know, G&L is no longer - the company was absorbed by Fender and scuttled, ending chapter in guitar history.
