1963 Gibson RB-175 Nice early version "Pete Seeger inspired"
Description
Fresh from an estate where it's been ignored for quite some time. Shows a bit wear from use, but not a lot (MORE PHOTOS and DETAILS later today or tomorrow).
Neck is GREAT, frets and board are very clean. Truss rod adjusts both ways and is smooth.
NO cracks/breaks/repairs. Action set at 1/8".
This is from the "favored" early '60's era before they changed the specs and went to chrome h/w.
I'm thinking the bridge is newer as is the head. I don't know enough regarding the tailpiece but it's nickel and old. Period correct "fake gator"case that's significantly more worn than this particular instrument, so MAYBE Gramps had 2 banjos and used it on the other one (??)
It sounds good and plays VERY well.
