1965 Gibson Firebird III – Cardinal Red
Description
We never get tired of a Custom Color Reverse Firebird, and this beautifully aged 1965 Gibson Firebird III in Cardinal Red is definitely no exception! Towards the end of the run of Reverse Firebirds, Gibson had some leftover stock of lefty necks that were never used. Instead of leaving these in storage or the trash bin, Gibson opted to install them on a few right-handed Reverse bodies; like this one! Very few with this configuration were made, and we’re glad to have a few in our store. This particular example features a non-original Lyre Vibrola, conveniently covering up the holes from the factory vibrola. Under each tuner is a small hole, but there are no impressions or hints of other tuners being installed. We believe someone tried incorrectly reinstalling the original Banjo tuners and made these holes, with some non-original screws.
Overall Condition: 7.5, heavy checking throughout, some dings and flakes of paint missing, patina throughout, and edgewear
