1967 Gibson ES-355 TD Stereo Cherry

Excellent condition example of a late 60s Gibson ES-355 TD (SN 911423). The original cherry finish shows little to no fading, and no signs of touch up, overspray or refin. While the majority of ES-355s were fitted from the factory with Vibrola or Bigsby tailpieces, this example has a factory original stop bar tail piece. There is no evidence on the guitar of there ever having been any other tail piece (no filled holes indicating conversion, etc, see photos). There is some light finish checking between the bridge pickup and the f-hole on the top and also some light crazing on the back. There are a few light play and handling wear marks on the finish here and there but nothing through the finish to the wood and no chips, dings or dents on the body. There are a few very small finish dents on the neck, the worst of which can be seen in the photo of the back of the neck. Can barely be felt when the neck is played. The pickups, knobs, pots, bridge and wiring all appear to be original to the guitar and all work properly including the Varitone switch. The gold plating on the pickups and the bridge show a little surface wear (see pics). The guitar had non-original tuners on it previously and the owner installed vintage/period waffle-back Kluson K-500 tuners with metal keystone buttons and gold finish. The plugged mounting screw holes from the previous tuners are still visible as the K-500s don't cover them completely. The pick guard is a replacement (proper style) and the previous owner stated that the nylon saddles in the bridge may also be replacements, as well as the tip on the pickup toggle switch. The mahogany neck is dead straight, no bow or twist and the action is very low and comfortable. The truss rod functions properly. The frets are in excellent condition, showing only the very slightest wear in the first position, nothing that requires any attention at the present. It's got the late 60s Gibson 1 9/16" nut width, great for small hands or players that just like a skinny neck. Sounds great, with a variety of tonal options provided by the Varitone switch.
