Description

Here's a well cared for, no issue 1960 ES-345. It has been converted to mono but the Varitone is intact and working great (not all of them do). The red is still vibrant although it looks like the early red that fades to watermelon-it simply hasn't faded yet. This guitar is all about the tone. It has a really excellent set of PAFs (black) that are articulate and sweet sounding. All parts are original except for the switch tip and the mono harness. The switch tip in the photos isn't correct but I swapped in an amber catalin tip from a guitar I parted out ages ago. There is moderate wear to the metal parts but the finish is in excellent condition. No major checking and no major dings or scratches. The pickups have had the covers off and are back on-the stickers black light correctly as does the entire finish. They have not been rewound. It looks to me like the frets are original but it could be a really good pro fret job. The neck profile is slim but not the later blade neck that is prone to problems. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should. The original brown case is in fair condition. I would suggest getting a modern case if you're going to gig with it.
