1963 Gibson ES-335TD – Mercato Green Burst

Description

You’ll be the only one on the block with this custom-ordered 1963 Gibson ES-335 in Mercato Green! As the folklore goes, this exceptionally rare finish was requested by its original owner. Supposedly, he owned a car dealership near the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo and came in with a can of paint to match the color of his car! Even the neck, sides, and back are all painted in the same burst pattern, with this vibrant green fading into black around the edges. The color was told to us as “Mercato Green,” although we believe this color could be Silver Moss Iridescent, a green metallic finish from 1963 with Dupont color code 4288L. Regardless, this has to be one of the most unique Gibson finishes we’ve seen! It’s held up really well, with some mild wear and patina to the finish. With its original Bigsby and two Patent No. Pickups, this guitar sounds incredible in basically every position. All components are original on this piece, with the exception of a missing Bigsby hinge screw.

Overall Condition: 8.5, light wear and dings, patina
