1959 Gibson ES-335 Blonde/Natural
Description
There's a few good reasons why you don't see a whole lot of stop tail 59 blonde 335's. First they only made a total of 71 of them in 59 and probably close to half of them are Bigsbys. I'm sure a few got refinished and a few got broken so that leaves perhaps 25 or 30 stop tails. Nearly every major collector has one in his collection-it is considered one of top investment guitars and one of the five "must have" guitars for serious collectors. So, when a blonde stop tail comes to market, it's a rare thing. This is currently the only 59 available. I had two others but they sold recently and they too will go quietly into major collections and off the market for decades. This is probably the last of the big neck blondes as it is right at the point when transition necks were introduced. Condition is 8.5+/10 with fine checking and some light wear to the back of the neck. The blonde has a wonderful patina-a slightly darkened finish from UV exposure and smoky bars (remember smoky bars?). It is all original except for the frets and the tuners (same footprint as the originals). The original tuners are in the case in need of new tips. PAFs are sealed with excellent stickers. Weight is 7 lbs 12 ounces. Case is a Gibson badged brown with pink interior.
