1956 Gibson ES-225T – Sunburst
Description
This clean 1956 Gibson ES-225T comes in its original Sunburst finish. First introduced in 1955, these models were manufactured only through 1959. You can think of the 225 as the 125s’ slightly fancier, older sibling. The models appear similar at first glance, though the 225 includes notable features that set it apart. The tuners are individual, rather than three on a side. The headstock features a pearloid inlay, rather than a “Gibson” decal. The neck is bound on the 225, and the tailpiece is the same as the early LP Goldtops. The key appointment of the ES-225T is the middle placement of this single P-90 pickup. While this is a polarizing feature, it gives the guitar a unique sound. It plays well acoustically and at lower volumes plugged in. Overall, these models offer a great opportunity to buy a Gibson from the Golden Age without breaking the bank on a more expensive model. Throw in its original brown case, hang tags, and a cord, and this is a great package.
