Gibson Custom Shop 2016 Tak Matsumoto 1959 Les Paul Aged
This is the ‘Tak Matsumoto 1959 Les Paul Aged’, produced as a limited run.
Based on True Historic specifications, it faithfully recreates the 1959 Les Paul with serial number '9-1156' owned by B'z's Tak Matsumoto. Meticulous ageing processes give it the same imposing presence as the original instrument.
The neck grip has been finished to match the exact shape of the original instrument, as analysed from 3D scans and digital data.
It has a slightly slimmer profile than the standard 2016 model. The pickups are a Burstbucker #3 in the neck position and a Custombucker in the bridge position.
Other features that have been faithfully reproduced include the re-fretted frets finished with over-binding, the metal jack plate, and the locking strap pins – all of which are modifications that Tak himself made for practical reasons.
The guitar shows minimal wear, with almost no fret wear.
The neck and truss rod are in good condition.
